Security and data discussions should be based on documented controls and the requirements of the individual marina—not broad promises.
1. Who should have access?
MarinaControl is a B2B operational platform for marina staff. Access should be associated with the marina organisation and the responsibilities of its authorised users; boat owners are not operational users of the application.
2. How is organisational information separated?
Operational records are associated with a client organisation so information can be retrieved and synchronised within the appropriate marina context. Access controls must be reviewed as part of deployment.
3. What happens when connectivity is interrupted?
The Android application uses local operational storage alongside synchronisation. The precise behaviour of each workflow—including what can be completed offline and when changes synchronise—should be demonstrated and tested for the marina's working environment.
4. How is staff identity recorded?
Operational actions are more useful when the record retains who performed or changed them and when. Marina procedures should determine appropriate account management, credential control and removal of access.
5. Can information be exported or migrated?
Data portability should be discussed before adoption. MarinaControl supports CSV-based processes in selected operational areas; the exact import and export scope should be confirmed for the proposed deployment.
6. What information should the marina collect?
Software capability does not determine lawful or proportionate data collection. Each marina remains responsible for deciding what it needs, why it needs it, how long it should retain it and who should have access.
7. How are incidents, backups and recovery handled?
Before live adoption, the parties should document the operational support route, backup and recovery expectations, incident communication and responsibilities appropriate to the agreed service.
DISCUSS THE REAL DEPLOYMENT
Access → separation → synchronisation → history → support
A useful security conversation is specific to the workflows, people and information the marina intends to place in the system.
